Colour Throwdown Challenge

I have been having craft withdrawal symptoms, so I needed to get a craftin'.  I decided on the color throwdown challenge as the colours were really appealing - succulents seem to be all the rage at the moment.

Here is my entry :

I used the Flower Patch stamps from stampin' up with my new Gina K inks.  I used Applemint, Asparagus Green, Wild Wisteria, Wild Lilac, Sweet corn and Prickly Pear.  The background was embossed with Kaisercraft lattice embossing folder. The sentiment was a freebie from Altenew which came with a cardmaking magazine.  I used a plum coloured Gelato around the sentiment and blended it out with my finger. Very pretty colour combo.

DELFT CARD

I decided to check out Gina K's webpage today and discovered that she had a new products launch and a challenge.  When I watched Gina create her card, it reminded me of Blue Delftware crockery so I set about creating my take on Blue Delftware.
The background is scored in a diamond pattern with a score board, after being stamped with roses in Gina K "ïn the navy" ink. The DSP paper is from Gina K "Floral essentials" which has been embossed and Distress ink by Tim Holtz applied over the embossing. You can just see the subtle diamond pattern that remains on the DSP. The main image and sentiment has been also stamped with Gina K Ïn the navy" ink. I have applied silver liquid pearls to the corners of the main image.

CAS challenge

A super quick card for the CAS colour challenge today..I die cut a simple rose and butterfly from rose pink cardstock.  Pink ink was stamped through mesh to get the effect on the sentiment label dies. "A bouquet of good wishes"sentiment by Penny Black (Gratitude stamps) was stamped with versamark and embossed in silver Gina K embossing powder.   I tucked the cherry ribbon under the small label and then under the larger sentiment label to form a loop.  I layered everything on Stampin up blackberry bliss and whisper white cardstock.  A couple of plum coloured sequins finished it off easy peasy - done!

Gold embossed bird on patterned paper

After watching a video by Jennifer McGuire, I felt really inspired to try her technique.  I gathered scraps of 3 different types of paper which coordinated and cut them into strips of varying width.
I inked the edges to give more definition to the strips of patterned paper.  Using an ordinary school glue stick, I attached the strips on a piece of cardstock, then once dried used a circle die to cut a circle shape.  I cut a larger circle from turquoise cardstock for the layer underneath.  I then used a bird stamp from my stash and embossed it in gold.  I did the same technique for the sentiment (I used creativ words stamp.)  Ranger super fine gold embossing powder was used for both elements. A simple piece of organza ribbon was used behind the circle and adhered onto cream cardstock which was in turn adhered to the sandy cardbase.  (AC cardstock was used for these.)
I quite liked how it turned out and have entered it into the Cas Colours & sketches cardmaking challenge.

Shine, Shine, Shine

Shine, Shine, Shine

This pretty metallic look friendship card was achieved with Metallic watercolour paints applied to the background.  I die cut three stitched square shapes from Gina K layering cardstock.  I then stamped Bo Bunny Doodle stamps in Gina K Night of Navy and Altenew Crisp Cantelope on the two smaller squares. Used the doodle flower stamps to make a background image stamped in Versamark and then Perlex applied.  Vine leaf  and sentiment (Penny Black Gratitude) was stamped with Gina K Night of Navy.
I have entered this in the card sketch friend challenge at Time out challenges.
